Nancy Gentry is the wife of James Little. The Little and Hamilton families has closed ties to the Cherokee Indians. Several family members have asserted that Nancy was full-blooded Cherokee. Rufus Lafayette Hamilton, husband of Nancy's granddaughter, rode with Cherokee regiments in the Civil War.
In 2006 genetic testing established that Nancy is the sister of Elizabeth Gentry and therefore the daughter of Samuel Tyree Gentry. For more details on the genetic testing see:

As stated on the web-site above, the test do not prove or disprove that Nancy Gentry was of Indian descent. There is no doubt that the family had reason to believe that there is a blood relationship with the Cherokee nation.
