Married: Mary Florence Shewmaker (1873-1949), married September 11, 1900.

Geneva Terry (1914-2002)

 

 John Terry was born in Tennessee to John and Mary Terry. In 1880 the family is living in Limestone County, Alabama.

 

In 1900 John is living with his parents in Alvord, Wise County, Texas.

In September of 1900 John married Mary Florence Shewmaker. Mary had been abandoned by her first husband, Evert Edgar Evans, while living in the Indian Territory. She had returned to her home of Alvord with her two sons, Henry and Frank Evans. In the 1910 census John and Mary are still living in Wise County. There are three children living in their household, Hubert Terry, Grace Terry, and Albert (Frank) Evans. We do not know what has become of the four children from John's first marriage.

 

In 1920 John Terry's family is listed living in Wise County. Three children are living at home, Hubert, Grace, and Geneva. In 1920 the family moved to Ravia, Oklahoma. Terry and Mary are listed in the 1930 census for Johnston County, Oklahoma.

 

John and Mary Evans would spend the rest of their lives in Johnston County, Oklahoma. Mary died in 1949, and John would follow in 1950. John died in the home of his Daughter, Grace, in Waco, Texas. John and Mary are buried in the Ravia Cemetery in Ravia, Oklahoma.
