Lucy Jenkins is born to Wiley and Mary Jenkins in Alabama in 1840. In 1850 she is residing with her parents, Wiley and Mary Jenkins, in Pike County, Alabama. In the 1860 census she is living with her husband, Richard Rowell, and three month old son, William D. Rowell, in Pike County, Alabama.

 

Mary Rowell, a daughter is born to the young couple in 1861 as the Civil War begins. Richard enlist in 1861 and survives the war being taken prisoner in Richmond the day before Robert E. Lee surrenders his forces at Appomattox. Richard Rowell is inprisoned at Point Lookout prisoner of war camp. He dies there in 1865.

 

Lucy marries Isaah Raughton. The first known child to this union is Wiley Raughton, born September 16, 1868 in Alabama. Isaah, Lucy, Mary, and Wiley are residing in Bughall, Bullard County, Alabama in 1870. Her Father-in-law from her first marriage, Ezekiel Rowell, is living nearby. In the 1880 the family is still residing in Bullock County.

 

Sometime between the birth of the last child in 1885 and 1892 the family has relocated to Texas. In 1892 Lucy's daughter Mary meets and marries Hezekiah Carlton in Jones County, Texas. In the 1900 the family is listed living in Falls County, Texas. In 1910 they have moved further west to Jones County. In 1915 Lucy dies. She is interred in Bethel Cemetery. Her husband dies four years later and is buried next to her.
