Four children were born to James and Amanda Bourland. Two died as children. One of the children was Raymond listed in the 1910 census. The other child's name is not known. Both of these children were buried in graves marked with stones on the family farm and the burial sites are now lost.

 

1880 Census - James H. Bourland is living with his parents in Hill County, Texas.

 

1900 Census - James and Mandy Bourland are living with Jackson Mary Williams family in Itasca, Hill County, Texas.

 

1910 Census - Jim H. and Ema L. Bourland are living in Merkel Texas with their children Ruth (2) and Raymond (4).

 

1918 - James Henry Bourland, Farmer, registers for the WWI draft. He lists his address as Abilene, Texas and Amanda Luella Bourland as his wife.

 

1920 Census - James and Amanda L Bourland are living in Taylor County, Texas with children Ruth and J. H.

 

1930 Census - James and Louella Bourland are living in Abilene, Texas, with their children Ruth and James H. Bourland.
