Garrett Bourland., son of J. W. Bourland has also come to Hill County from Franklin County, Alabama. A circumstantial case can be made that J. W. and Benjamin Bourland are grandsons of Ebenezer Bourland. Ebenezer Bourland and his sons settled for a while in Franklin County, Alabama. The circumstances of James W. and Gabriel Bourland, their date of birth and where they lived, makes it likely they are related to Ebenezer, but not certain. For more information on a possible relationship to Ebenezer Bourland, see Benjamin Bourland's page.
Francis Marion, Gabriel's brothers and Benjamin's son, came to Hill County no later than 1873 when his son Benjamin is born. Mackey Jane Bourland, Gabriel's sister, moved to Hill County with her husband Isaac Andrew Eaton around 1879. Julia, the younger sister of Gabriel and Francis, is living with her parents in 1880 in Alabama. Sometimes afterwards she also comes to Texas. Julia Etta Bourland would marry George Washington Petty in Hill County in 1894. Julia Etta Bourland's journal lists her relatives of Hill County as Mary E. Bourland born Sept 1860, F.M Bourland born May 5, 1835, G.A. Bourland died Nov. 15, 1907, B.A. Bourland died Jan 23, 1892. Also mentioned is J. P. Bourland. (Source: email from living descendant)

Gabriel has eight children with his second wife. In 1907 Gabriel passes from this life and is buried in Itasca, Texas. His Brother, Francis Marion Bourland, would die 15 days later. Gabriel's second wife would remarry. When she dies in 1950 she is buried in the family plot with Gabriel, their son Richard who died in 1917, and James Christian, who she married after the death of Gabriel.
