Celebrate the mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts, grandparents, cousins, and friends who encouraged, influenced, cared, and loved the children of their present with hope for the generations to come. They impart to each of us the gift of life, a part of themselves. They help begin our journey, and now it is our turn to complete that journey well. They were farmers, housekeepers, millers, tradesmen, barbers, physicians, soldiers, school board members, teachers, and preachers. They made long and difficult journeys looking for a better life, journeys whose hardships we cannot imagine in our modern times. Their sacrifice and perseverance paves the way for the rich life most of us enjoy today. They were people of faith. Their stories often center around their churches , their love of the Bible, and their devotion to the service of God. Their Cemeteries proclaim their faith and hope. It is a faith that continues to be embraced by their descendants today. They come to us, warts and all, strengths and weaknesses, faith and foolishness, achievements and foibles. We thank them for their courage, sacrifice, devotion, and love, and we do our best to honor them by living our life to the utmost today, and starting the next generation on their path to full life.
