Humphrey, Lester and Emma

Roberts, John C. (Pat) and Eva

These gravesites are side-by-side. Lester and Tempie are Brother and Sister. John Roberts and Bill Bourland are first cousins, once removed.

There are four other Bourland's listed on an internment list for Elmwood Memorial Park. This includes James Henry Bourland Jr. and his wife Edna. James is the first cousin on Bill Bourland. Martin Edwin Bourland is also interred here with his wife Minnie. There is no direct link between Martin's family, who can be traced back to "Immigrant John", and my family, well at least not yet.

There is a Joseph Clinton Humphrey interred in the Elmwood cemetery with his wife Juanita. Other than the spelling of the family name and geography, there is no known link with our John James Humphrey. Joseph Clinton Humphrey is listed in 1910 census in Caldwell County, Texas. His Father is Joseph Humphrey and he is listed as born in Indiana, and his Father as born in Ohio.

Similarly, John W. Humphrey (1906-1960) is interred at Elmwood Memorial. According to a 1910 census record (difficult to read) he is living in Abilene, the son of John Humphrey born in Virginia.
